Freedom of speech is guaranteed as a safeguard against the government. A private corporation can limit the speech of an employee, while performing a work function, as it sees fit.

Yes, and that is what the FCC is around for, but he broke no FCC rules, and the only reason he got fired is because at the first hint of controversy, advertisers run for the hills, thats it.

Bleh, Imus paid the price just like anyone else would for pissing someone off. Sharpton’s time will come… if not during life, someone will most likely piss on his corpse. Meh.

I may be mistaken but wasnt his producer the one that made the comment first and then Imus just added more to the producers comment? And if it was the producer that said it originally was he fired as well? or is it just because he’s the on-air personality so its his fault for anything said even if its not his own original thought?
