I agree that most people who are poor are that way because they are lazy… some because of bad situations. But pick yourself up and do something about it. I’m a little tired of paying my taxes for those lazy slobs… but GOD forbid if you try to stash a little $$$ without paying the man.

WILL HAUL AWAY OLD WASHER AND DRYER WILL CLEAN UP OLD TREE BRANCHESS AND LIMBS OUT OF YOUR YARD! IT MIGHT NOT HAPPEN RIGHT AWAY NOT TRYING TO MAKE IT SEEM THAT EASY BUT IF SOMEONE MAKES A TEMP TO DO THAT SOONER OR LATER THEY WILL MAKE SOME TYPE OF MONEY!! I agree to a certain extent. I have seen the “poor” buy a house here for 50% of what I’ve paid for because of the “moderate income housing rule”, and they have 2 brand new cars in the garage, have giant Maytag washer and dryers, a huge stainless steel fridge, and frequently go for vacations. It makes me so annoyed that I’m paying full price, with full property tax for the same house, and I shiver every month when it’s time to pay the bills.

Anthony, don’t be an ass, i can honestly say i was raised in the poorest enviroment you could imagine, everyone in my area was brought up to abuse the system, i grew up in a welfare home and on the system, and why, because my family was lazy. So my facts are from what i seen. And they have disadvantages my ass, i had to pay 50k to put my wife through college, the reasons why her school was not paid for was because of several factors, this is what we were told by the college. “i am sorry miss, but if you were poor or a minority you would be fully funded for school, but since you do not fit in either catatgories your tuition is 11k per year, we however finance everyone no matter what status or race.”
EVERYONE can get and education, and if your poor or a minority, its free, gotta love goverment grants, and the entire time my wife is in school i watch the “poor” sign up, take 1 class, and drop out and take the remainder of the funding. Now they are eating the grant money and don’t even go to school, they signup to get the leftover grant money, they get a check for whatever is left over, Congrats, they were taught to pimp the system..

“a certain amount can’t find it, and colleges won’t give ‘anyone’ a loan.” Get the fuck outta here, it is all community colleges policy to finance first time students, it is a policy they run by, ask any of them.

And your right, many homeless are children, and that falls back on their shitty parents, which anyone of them could make a good life if they made a fuckin effort…..

I’m curious what studies you cite to arrive at the 90% / 10% break-down. Many of the homeless in the US are children, unemployment rates mean that of the people looking for work, a certain amount can’t find it, and colleges won’t give ‘anyone’ a loan.

I worked as Executive Director of a large non-profit (120,000 members), whose sole purpose was to increase access to higher education. It is incredible the barriers and obstacles that are in the way of the under-privileged.

Often times, people of privilege react in ways such as this, because to face to truth of the matter, means to acknowledge that the system in which we live REQUIRES a lower class, a rather large lower class. Of course, if you are fine with that, and you realize that your luxury and privilege is on the backs of others, than fine. Simply admit that.

I honestly don’t know what to say to that. I totally agree tho. I refuse to go onto welfare. I’ll go get a job before that happens. And I plan to after my son starts school. But yea…welfare people are like drug addicts. Once they start they never stop.
